This spear is tipped with a quartzite macroblade from Arnhem Land. The spear was collected in 1968 by a research expedition to Arnhem Land by the Moravian Museum in Brno, Czech Republic.
People in Arnhem Land hafted macroblades to spear shafts using native bees wax reinforced with fibre or hair string. Stone-tipped spears are just one of a diverse range of spear types used in the Northern Territory for hunting and fighting. Stone-tipped spears were cast with a spearthrower in Arnhem Land.
